Backendless Email Reply-From issue

Hi

I use an external SMTP provider (smtp.sendgrid.net) to send emails from backendless, however, all emails come from develop@backendless.com. There appears to be no way of setting my own reply-from address in this scenario.

Please could this be looked in to or perhaps I am doing something incorrect. App ID: AACC0A59-DF6B-A90B-FF8B-F4B684723600

Thank you

Steven

Hello,

We're going to check it with sendgrid.com service and will respond you here as soon as we have any results.

Thanks for patience!

Hi Sergey. I'm pretty sure this is not specific to sendgrid. I believe any smtp service would experience the same issue.

Actually just tried my own SMTP and it's working fine so certainly there is something different about sendgrid in particular in this case. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Apparently this is a problem specific to services like SendGrid, where you have to specify some predefined values in Used ID field. I was able to reproduce this and I can see that it's not currently possible to change the default "develop@backendless.com" email when configuring email settings with a service like SendGrid.

I have created an internal task BKNDLSS-16541 to develop a solution to this problem and to allow overriding the default email address when using services like SendGrid. Please be aware that this may be not a high-priority task and that you still can configure the sender name in the email settings, so that the raw sender is "Your Configured Sender <develop@backendless.com>" (and in most email clients it's displayed simply as "Your Configured Sender" in the sender field). Still we shall notify you in this topic as soon as we have any progress.

Thank you Sergey. Appreciate you taking the time to recreate and raise internally. I will await a response here and happy to test when complete. Thank you again.

Hello,

Glad to inform that you can now specify the sender email separately in Email Settings section.
