Email settings not working in Version 4.0

Dear all,

I'm doing first tests after migrating to Backendless 4.0 and despite that everything look correct, the mail system doesn't work.

It seems you have to manually tune something and that's why beyond importing correctly the configuration of the email account and even passing the test I'm not receiving either confirmation email or password recovery email, etc. (Obviously I have looked to spam and waiting an hour or so if it was some delay on dispatching)

Just for your convenience, remind you that this problem happened in Backendless 3.0 and those times you solved manually (IMO) because in each new app that I was creating I have to ask you to do it every time.

I have sent you to support@backendless.com, email settings if you need to make a test. Please ask me any other thing you may need so after I have 100% checked the functionality and if this is working I would be able to migrate the others apps that I have in your platform.

Congrats for the new version BTW because the look and some functionalities like callbacks or the UI for push notifications are much better.

Hello,

We know about this issue and we are woking on it. The internal ticket BKNDLSS-16090 created. The problem is that userId should be an email.

For your convenience I'll tell you that we had this same issue with version 3.0 and was solved as here: http://support.backendless.com/topic/ovh-mail-server-configuration-not-accepted

It would be great if this would work today for the mentioned app so I can safely migrate the rest of the apps before the shutdown of version 3.0 knowing that despite the email of the others won't work for a day or two, it would be fixed when you are able.

we will try to fix it today, but I can not promise you. as a temporary workaround, I may provide you our smtp server. Then after fix you may change it to your own.

Hi Sergey,

Thank you for the efforts. To be honest I just need to be sure that my email settings will work on version 4.0 so I can migrate all the apps quietly.

In theory, tomorrow version 3.0 is going down for free versions, so because I have both, paid and free, I prefer to migrate all of them and just support one architecture. During this transition, some users will need to request a new password because they would have forgot the old one, or there will be new users that need the confirmation email. I can handle the users for a day or two, but need to be sure that the email settings will eventually work.

If not I better cancel the migration, :)

So with this I mean that I thank you about your offering your smtp server, but it's ok if you know the problem can be fixed in some hours or a day. I provided you two days ago to support@backendless some email settings that you can use to test the problem.

I can not definitely say that server will be upgraded today or tomorrow.

We have the plan to upgrade it as soon as it possible. Likely today.

Which upgrade do you mean?

I mean upgrade Backendless server which contains the fix of email settings.

Ahh got, it, I guess the other time you fix it in other way and that's why I wasn't thinking on upgrades, :)

Now I get that this can take days or weeks depending on your planned upgrades. Could you please send me the smtp details you were offering me here: "I may provide you our smtp server. Then after fix you may change it to your own."

Will you be so kind to double check? Test are passed in Manage console but when I tried to send a "preview" of any email template nothing arrives. I tried from my app to request a password recovery and neither I received an email.

Sorry Sergey, you are right, that app has been deleted when I made the final migration yesterday. I made it as a test to be able to work. The 4 that I mention in the last post are the one that should be working now,

They have the data and files imported from the export of the version 3 of the same apps in Backendless. Just in case, I reseted the settings and set them up again to see if that was the error but it didn't work either.

At the same time you have an email sent to support@backendless.com from my email account (look for "Jose Luis" with email settings with user and password suited for you in order to make tests.

I have checked this app FAAC6BED-DDD1-AFF4-FF65-D5717185BD00. the email had been sent, but I did not receive an email. There were no any errors.

so I have checked with my application and another smtp server. And everything was fine. I have sent you email with smtp settings that I try. This settings also have userid with %

Maybe ovh have some restrictions, and that's why we do not receive emails.
