Edit: I'm dumb ... go ahead and click on it ... LOL *** don't click visualizations! ***

Hey everybody. I’ve been using Backendless for a few months now. Freaking awesome. Love it!!! Ran into an issue just now that might have set me back quite a bit. I clicked on “Visualizations” underneath UI Builder. I saw it was in Beta and there was nothing in there so I went back to UI Builder. Not only did that action set me back, but it deleted at least 1 page, not only from the working version but from all of the backups. System and my own backup. At this point I’m not even sure what to do. Any help?
Steve

It is highly unlikely, literally impossible as visiting Visualizations has absolutely no bearing on the UI Builder pages.

Btw, backups are organized as zip files and removing a page from a ZIP file is not a straight forward process. If a page is not in the backups, it means it didn’t exist at the time when the backup was made.

Mark

Hey Mark! I trust your explanation on all of that as I am a designer and not a programmer and you all have proven in my mind to be not only a great company but fantastic people as well. So, if this helps you and Backendless, I’m going to share exactly what happened.

I have been working on a page called User Chores. The page is coming along nicely as well as the app in general. Something I want to do next is limit the size of photos uploaded, not only file size but also dimensions. So, I’ve been looking if there is a way to do that within UI Builder options first before I start creating logic, etc. I saw a button on the side, hovered over it, and it said “Visualizations.” I thought, well, I should check and see what it is. Nothing in there for me right now, so I clicked on the “UI Builder” button to go back to the “User Chore” page I was working on. But clicking on it took me to the “Landing” page. When I hovered over “Editing Page” to go to “User Chores” page it wasn’t there. I went to my “Dashboard” page and it looked like it did about a month ago. So I went to backups to restore the latest system backup which was from a couple minutes before that all happened and the “User Chores” page was gone.

The “User Chores” page is only in the system backup from a week ago. It’s not in the backup from 4 days ago. It’s not in the backup from today. I have been working on this page from 4 days and today. The backup from a week does look like it’s usable so I should be ok except for what I’ve done today. So, not a huge deal.

Here’s a screenshot of the only backup that seems to be close to right and I am more than happy to give you access to check it all out if you think it would help with understanding what could have happened. When I like a company I am happy to support them and I seriously think you guys are great.

Hi Stephen,

Was the page in the “default” UI container? Or perhaps you were working in another container and the page is there?

Regards,
Mark

Yeah, so that is probably the issue right there Mark … my lack of understanding on the basics of how the UI Builder functions in the backend  So, if I created a backup container, does that mean I’m actually designing the app within that container instead of the “standard mode?”

This is why I wanted to write out exactly what happened … because I know I am often the issue LOL. Thanks Mark!

Think about UI container as a separate UI app that talks to the same backend (database, files, users, etc).

You can read more about containers in our docs at:

Mark

That is awesome! Thanks Mark! I will check that out. In the meantime I will label this current container “Steve You Dummy This is the Working One!!!” LOL. Have a great day my friend.
