Import not working

I’m trying to import the attached csv file for testing purposes. I was hoping that Backendless will:

  1. Create the data table for me
  2. Insert the objects inside that table

So far, the best result I got is backendless creating the table with the default columns ( Object_ID, Created, Updated…etc) but none of the columns included in the csv file are there in the newly created table. I have tried:

  1. Removing the quotations from the headers.
  2. Removing the column types
  3. Adding the length with the type in the headers
  4. change the table name by removing the underscore
and nothing worked. I have been trying for two full days and the same result, in addition I had to wait between 1-1.5 hours after each import in order to try again. All that without any notification/feedback from Backendless on what is wrong. I have checked both, my email and the import folder in my account and nothing regarding the the import taking a place. I have searched the documentation, and I believe I followed the instruction without any luck. Could someone modify the attached csv file the correct way to get it to work, I hope I’m not asking much. also, if I’m in need to create 100 tables, for example, would I just zip all csv files in a single file and upload the single file, or do I have to upload each file individually? I understand that the documentation says yes I can, but even that did not work.

Hi Ayman,

I just tried the file you attached and it is working just fine for me (took 1 second). Here’s the data table I got after the import:

You can also see the status of the import in the /Import folder in the file storage. There is going to be IMPORT_DATA.log file:

Here’s what’s in the file:

Thanks so much for the quick reply.

I have just tried again without luck. Since it is working for you then most likely I’m doing something wrong. I took screen shots to the steps I followed so you may advise me of the wrong step. FYI, I’m using Google Chrome (Version 48.0.2564.116 m (64-bit))

This is how I initiated my import process, I could not take a snap shot of the finalizing the import screen.

The table is successfully created, but no custom columns added

The file name as shown in the import folder

It is now 42 minutes since my last attempt to import.

  1. Everything still the same as my last post.
  2. If I try to import again, I get the attached image message after selecting the csv file and click the Import button.

I’m using an evaluation backendless account, feel free to access it, and if needed, I will be glad to submit a ticket if it is hard to diagnose the issue based on the current posts.

Try creating a new app and import there. Make sure to check the Import directory after you import. Let me know how it goes.

Well, I guess we think alike. The original issue I was having was with my employer’s Backendless account. So I created this account two days ago so I may test with it separately and to avoid any issues with the employer’s account. I will however follow your advise just to be sure that the issue is not related to the importing to the default app.

Same result like before. As you can see not even Import_Log file.

Is it possible the CSV file has changed since you posted it in the very first posting?

The only thing I can think about is if there is any other settings/permissions I should have modified in my backendless account before using the import, as I did nothing after registration and creating my app as far as setting up my account. Could it be one of the FREE account limitations that I can not perform import? I’m going to try a different browser as soon as I’m allowed to import again and I will let you know of the results.

no, the file I attached in my posting is the same as the file I attached in my imports. I will also try with a file with the header line only to see if the table would be created.

Ayman,

I was able to reproduce the problem. I am assigning a ticket to a developer to research this issue. We will be in touch with you shortly.

Regards,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I can rest now

Do you have any new for this issue while I get the same. I’m not able to import a CSV file with the same result as described by @AymanHamdan above.

Thanks for your help

If you run into a problem with import, please email the file you’re importing to support@backendless.com and cross-reference the support topic in the email.

I just emailed the file as suggested. Thanks for your advice

Hi François,

Could you please resend the file?

Regards,
Mark
