Hey guys,
I have been trying to search for “is Valid User Session block in User Api” using Backendless Navigator and it didn’t return any results. What I was looking for is this:
Where could I find some documentation on the “is Valid User Session” block under User Api
Quick question, What’s the difference between the “is Valid session” block and using the name property in “get current user” Or Checking if “get current user” is not null.
I already understand “get current user” has some properties like “name” (can I presume other columns from the user table, would be nice to know what is available), and the other returns a boolean, as mentioned.
Just wondering why you went about the get current user to check if the person is loggedin(thus a valid session) via the “get current user” block instead of the “is valid session” as per your videos ( https://youtu.be/T9vMi7K8gS0https://youtu.be/JVryzXPzklI)
Can I presume both use a secured cookie for identification?
Slightly related, I wonder if one can track unregistered visitors on your platform, and use their IP address as a temporary identifier till they do get registered?
As Mark said above, the difference that:
“is Valid User Session" block checks if the user session is still valid or not. The block returns a boolean value of either true or false. While “get current user” give you the information about the logged-in user (All data or just required properties from the Users table).
Can I presume both use a secured cookie for identification?
These blocks are just a call to JS-SDK, and cookies are used there if they are enabled

IP addresses can be dynamic. Perhaps you should look into the option of using a guest login?
