Backendless Pro 4.0.0.64-7: E-Mail does not work

Dear Backendless-team,

I have installed Backendless Pro 4.0.0.64-7 (Mac).

I entered all the E-Mail settings, but E-Mail sending does not work.
By clicking the “Save” / “Test” buttons, there appears a green success message everytime.

I have copied the E-Mail settings from Backendless 3.5, where it has worked.

  • SMTP Server address: …
  • Port “587”
  • From: “Backendless”
  • User ID: …
  • Password: …
  • Security: “TLS”

Is it possible that the E-Mail sending functionality is not implented yet in Backendless Pro 4.0.0.64-7?

By the way, I have tried to reset my login password for this support forum, and I have also received no E-Mail.

Hi Michael,

I believe you’re correct. I just tried it as well with the latest build and I see some errors in <installdir>/apps/backendless/logs/taskmanager.log

I will open a ticket to take care of the issue.

As for the forum email, could you please check the spam folder?

I did also get no notification E-Mail with the information, that you have replied my post.

I have just checked the above mentioned logfile in “installdir>/apps/backendless/logs/taskmanager.log”. Here is the corresponding information:

at javax.mail.Transport.send(Transport.java:124)

Thanks, Michael. The exception I got was different. Did you use the sendMail API which resulted in exception?

No, I dind´t use any API. I have recognized the issue during two use-cases:

  • Invite Development Team Member > E-Mail did not receive
  • Export Database > Completion Mail did not receive

Make sense. These are “system level” events (the “app level” ones). The email configuration for these is described at:

I have modified the settings in “<installdir>/apps/backendless/htdocs/conf/mail.properties”. Now E-Mail sending is working.

Invitation of development team member is received.
But when I click on the link, the browser opens and there is a grey screen.

thank you very much for checking.

I like 4.0 very much. Especially the new business logic and the possibility to implement several Push Certificates.
Migrating the databases from 3.6 to 4.0 was very smooth.
As soon as iOS SDK for 4.0 is available, I will start migrating my App to Backendless 4.0.
