How can I format the text colour and text style of email Substitution text in email templates? When i apply text colour and style to {Users.username} or any user defined Substitution text the variables don’t get substituted for the actual values in the received emails.

you need to select a variable within its brackets and then apply a style to it. If you select only Users.username without brackets, in actual HTML code there are symbols between brackets and variable name, and the server can’t match that this is a variable.

On the edit page of the email template, click View>Source code and you can edit the contents of the template.
