How to update standalone server

Hi!
Earlier this week, you published a new version of the standalone server (3.0.0.16).
We currently have some quite big projects currently running on the 3.0.0.8 version, and we would like to update to the new server.
But we don’t know how to update. We tried to run the installer, hoping it would detect and old version and update, but it doesn’t work.
How are we supposed to update to the new version without breaking everything?

There is no option to update an existing installation besides just reinstalling it completely.

it means:

  1. make backup
  2. install new BL server - clear install
  3. restore backup ?

What about secret keys ? Application ID ? How to manage upgrade in order to be workable for running applications ?

Hi Josef,

Yes, your workflow is correct. We’re also currently working on an instruction describing how to update only the server files preserving all your data, but it is not complete and tested yet.

Did you publish the guide to upgrade to a new patch level?

No, we have not done that yet. Customers who run Backendless Pro get upgrade instruction via direct communication.
