Problems to add a custom domain

Hi there,

I try to add a custom domain to backendless but I get rejected:

I have added backendless as CNAME as advised:

Please note that I cannot change the A-record due to restrictions of my provider.
Any idea what I can do differently?

Regards, Jörg

Hi.
First of all, you shouldn’t change A-record, the CNAME is enough.
You have to crate CNAME and use in for registration in Backendless web-console.
After changes in domain records, it may require up to one day, that the record is refreshed all over the world.
You can check it with different commands (depending on your OS):
host -t CNAME address.with.cname.com
dig -t CNAME address.with.cname.com

But keep in mind, that from different geographical locations you may receive different results.

Thank you for your reply. I have set the CNAME yesterday afternoon. So I may wait another couple of hours.
But if I call the website it already refers to backendless with an invalid certificate (which is correct because there is no entry).

The error with the A-record is sent by Backendless. Why is Backendless not accepting the CNAME record?

Did you try the commands i posted above? What is the result?
Also, I need the full domain name you use, in order to check it from our side – this is the start point of investigation.

Can I send you the result in a private message?

you can always send mail to support@backendlessmail.com.
Do not forget to bind the link on this topic.

I’ll check tomorrow your case (with the domain) more precisely in order to understand the root case of the error you see. Will post here about the result.

I’ve successfully added your domain (started with www, from your letter) to your app without any problems.
We have not done anything with our servers since yesterday. So, I am more inclined to believe that this domain was still unknown in Europe.
You can remove it and add again to the same app or another one. Please let us know if something bothers you.
