SSL certificate from Backendless Cloud 99

Hi Backendless, first of all best wishes for 2021!

I am currently looking into your Cloud 99 solution as it includes the custom SSL certificate.
Could you inform me the pros / cons of this option, because I am curious if I need this for my app.
Does it improve my security, is it possible to use when I only use the Backendless console and an app released in the Google Play store?
Also I read some things about SQL injection, is Backendless protected agains this?

I am looking forward to your reply!

Best regards,
Robin

Hi Robin,

Thank you and happy new to you too!

With Backendless, when you use our API endpoints and domain name, all traffic is SSL encrypted. However, when you map your own custom domain to your app, in order to enable SSL, a certificate for your domain is required. The Cloud99 plan includes the option where we install your SSL certificate in our infrastructure for your app.

As for SQL injection, yes, Backendless is protected against it.

Mark

Hi @mark-piller ,
Would it be possible to buy the SSL certificate installation as a one time extra when sitting on the cloud9 plan (not cloud 99).
It will be hard to start small and later grow an app without initial SSL support.

Unfortunately but SSL certificates are available only for Cloud99 plan.

Regards, Dima.

This is a tough one for a new business to move up to the 99 cloud for $149 per month just to get the SSL.

You get SSL with all plans. Deploying your certificate for your custom domain is what’s available in Cloud99

I appreciate the reply Mark.

The features backendless has are amazing. Where is the best place for me to write a review that would favor backendless?

I get this:

Thanks Mark. I have activated SSL.

Hi Mark,

Try typing tripperplanner.com into incognito chrome
or http://tripperplanner.com or https://tripperplanner.com

Only works with http://www.tripperplanner.com/ (and that does not default to https://

Hi Mark,

Since the domain is configured to point to Backendless, the reason https doesn’t work is because there is no SSL cert for the domain deployed on our side.

Mark

Btw, we will be relaxing the policy with SSL certs for custom domains. If you’d like us to deploy yours, please send the certificate to support@backendless.com
