Hello Backendless Support Team,
I’m contacting you regarding an unexpected billing charge on my Backendless application CSG.
From the beginning, the application was on the Free plan, and I later upgraded it directly to Scale Fixed – Tier 1 ($15/month). I have never used the Scale Variable plan.
I subscribed to Scale Fixed because I understood that Tier 1 would cost $15 per month. However, I recently received a payment attempt for a much higher amount. When I checked my Backendless billing page, I found:
- Subscription: $15.00
- API Usage: $242.10
- Total: $257.10
I manually rejected the payment attempt through my bank because I did not recognize or understand why the amount was significantly higher than the $15 monthly plan I had selected.
The application is still under development and has not been launched publicly yet. There are no real customers actively using the application at this stage. All activity has mainly come from development and testing in Backendless/UI Builder.
After checking Analytics, I found that the Scale Fixed Tier 1 pricing estimate shows significant hourly overage charges caused by request-per-minute spikes during development.
I was not aware that choosing Scale Fixed Tier 1 could result in substantial additional hourly overage charges beyond the $15/month base price.
Could you please:
- Review my account and explain exactly how the $242.10 API Usage charge was generated.
- Confirm whether these charges are related to exceeding the Tier 1 request-per-minute limit during development/testing.
- Advise how I can configure my account to prevent unexpected overage charges while the application is still under development.
- Since this was an unintentional development-stage overage and my first experience with this billing behavior, please consider providing a one-time waiver or account credit for the $242.10 API Usage charge.
- Please confirm the amount that I should pay after your review so I can resolve the outstanding payment correctly.
Thank you for your help.
